Are you ready for what will likely be the biggest thrill and perhaps challenge of your riding life? Do you have what it takes to ride in the Giretto? Are you willing to train hard to get there? In 2010 you can do it with a partner (much more manageable than solo, but still very challenging). Read on, and there is a link at the bottom of the page to apply.

When:
1. Depart May 11, Return May 18, Stages 5 thru 9
2. Arrivals are required no later than May 12th. Earlier arrivals or late departures are completely up to each rider, but could provide more relaxing “vacation” time before or after the Giretto. The event will be 1 day of preparation, 5 days of riding complete stages of the 2010 Giro d’Italia, yielding 6 complete night stays and 7 days together with the Giretto team.
Where:
1. Starting city is Novara (fly into Milan), making our way down the west coast and inland along the western half of Italy. Our ending city is Cava de Tirreni (fly out of Naples-1 hr, or Rome-3hrs).
Who:
1. There will be one and two person teams. We will all ride as a single group, but partners can decide wether to ride the first half or the 2nd half of each stage, or alternate stages.
2. All riders must have long distance (100 miles or more) cycling experience. This is for strong intermediate or advanced riders only. There will be performance requirements in order to make it to the destination before the pros do, even despite our 4 hr head start. Gene Nacey will offer coaching to all riders throughout the winter months.
3. A limited number of riders will be accepted. Each rider will have a dedicated rider profile page to help with fund raising, and to post a photo and short story for the person they are riding for (cancer survivor, victim or otherwise deeply affected by the disease).
4. Spouses or significant others are permitted this year. If they are not riding, they do not have fund raising requirements, but their costs are the same.
Cost:
Finances are set to basically cover costs. Consider that you will be riding virtually within the race, for the closest feeling to the experience of the pros you will likely ever have.
$3,000 includes the following:
1. All lodging & logistics from arrival to departure (unless personal vacation time is added on either end of the Giretto)
2. Bike rental if needed
3. 7 breakfasts, 6 dinners
4. Free massages as required
5. Snacks and van support during rides
6. Services of 1 Ciclismo Classico bilingual guide with extensive cycling experience
7. Maps and route notes
8. Luggage handling during the tour
9. 50% off all training tools and programs offered by Cycling Fusion
10. Weekly coaching advice/consultation by Gino from January until day of departure
